Fremont police detectives say that on Tuesday, they spotted a vehicle tied to two firearm-related incidents earlier this month and pulled it over at a gas station on Mission Boulevard. Officers detained a male driver and a female passenger without incident, and a K-9 search turned up a loaded firearm hidden in a concealed compartment beneath the center console.
Gas Station Stop on Mission Boulevard
According to the Fremont Police Department, patrol officers stopped the vehicle at a gas station on Mission Boulevard and detained the occupants without incident. K9 Officer Narro and K9 Rusty arrived to conduct a firearms search, and the department said Rusty “located a loaded firearm concealed in a hidden compartment beneath the center console.”

Fremont Patch reported that Rusty is trained to detect explosive materials and gunshot residue and has previously assisted detectives in locating a handgun. The Fremont Police Department notes that its K-9 teams are used in patrol, SWAT and tracking operations and undergo continuous training.

Detectives say the vehicle has been linked to two earlier firearm-related incidents this month, though the department did not name suspects or list charges in its post.
