The City of Sandy Springs has scheduled a public information open house to shed light on their Roswell Road North End Boulevard project. The session is intended to offer local residents a platform where they can stay informed on the proposed infrastructural revamps pegged to enhance safety and streamline mobility along a bustling stretch of Roswell Road. The planned improvements are substantial and aim to modify the area from Dunwoody Place all the way up to Roberts Drive.
Set for Tuesday, February 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., the open house will transpire at the Sandy Springs Middle School located at 8750 Pride Place. Attendees of this event will have a chance to lay eyes on the improvement plans firsthand, pose questions, and share their input. Among the enhancements tabled for discussion is the construction of a new signalized intersection at Roswell Road and North River Parkway. Moreover, a connector road that would bridge Roberts Drive and North River Parkway is part of the blueprint, along with the addition of pedestrian lighting and sidewalks meant to bolster pedestrian welfare. The proposed signal is touted as a boon for safety and is claimed to potentially elevate the intersections' service level bordering North River Village Shopping Center and Roberts Drive.
Further, the project aims to refine traffic signalization where Dunwoody Place meets Roswell Road—a step that is said to enhance the operation and safety. The funding required for such undertakings is made possible by the Sandy Springs City together with the backing of the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). The city's contribution has been drawn from a pool of funds amassed through the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (T-SPLOST) program. A vote by Sandy Springs and Fulton County residents back in November 2021 green-lit this initiative.
