Miramar authorities have reported a second arrest connected to a violent home invasion that resulted in a man being pistol-whipped and his French bulldog stolen. The Miramar Police Department confirmed that 27-year-old Sean Michael Hickey was taken into custody on charges of home invasion with a firearm and felony probation violation. The information, obtained from a Local 10 news article, states Hickey was arrested Thursday.
According to authorities, the distressing series of events unfolded early in the morning on Jan. 5, when officers responded to an apartment complex on Southwest 128th Terrace after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. Found by the police at the scene, shell casings were present and the victim, who was cooperating with the investigation, was treated by Miramar Fire Rescue. The perpetrators, after attacking the individual, fled with his dog.
In a related arrest earlier this month, 21-year-old Juliana Serna was apprehended on charges that included home invasion with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine. Details surrounding the initial arrest were gleaned from the incident report and subsequent updates from the Miramar Police Department.
Through a hole that was cut into the fence, the suspects reportedly gained entry to the complex and involved at least one other individual still at large. The dog, central to the motive behind the invasion, was eventually found in the vicinity of the crime and reunited with its owner.
Currently, Hickey is being held at the Broward County Main Jail, while Serna is at the Paul Rein Detention Facility, both without bond. The rundown of Hickey's charges and personal information, including his no-bail status, were confirmed through a Facebook post by Broward FL Mugshots. As the manhunt proceeds, Miramar Police urge anyone with information about the third suspect's identity to come forward and reach out to either the Miramar Police Department or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
