Yesterday's chaotic encounter in Oakland left an SFPD officer injured after a suspect in a vehicle struck the officer while trying to make a desperate escape. The incident occurred on the 800 block of 47th Street when members of the SFPD's Community Violence Reduction Team (CVRT) attempted to stop the wanted individual at approximately 3:50 PM, as confirmed by a social media post from the San Francisco Police Department.
As officers were trying to detain the suspect, the situation escalated when the driver attempted to quickly flee and, in doing so, struck an SFPD officer. The Oakland Police sprang into action, pursuing the vehicle and arresting the suspects after they exited the car, attempted to carjack another vehicle, and then fled on foot. The injured officer was later transported to a hospital, sustaining non-life-threatening injuries, according to the same SFPD communication.
