The Atlanta Department of Watershed Management has been working diligently to address the situation and has thus far decided to completely close off Georgia Avenue SE between Connally Street SE and Ami Street SE. According to WSB-TV, the emergency road closure will stay effective until necessary repairs are finalized. This effort is ensuring that those living and working in the proximity will still be able to access their homes and businesses, in addition to maintaining services such as mail, package delivery, trash collection, and notably, emergency services.

For passersby and drivers needing to reroute, a specific detour plan has been communicated. Those aiming to travel east on Georgia Avenue SE are instructed to turn right onto Martin Street SE, followed by a left onto Little Street SE, before continuing onto Grant Terrace Street SE and turning right back onto Georgia Avenue SE to proceed eastbound. Similarly, westbound travelers should turn right onto Georgia Terrace SE, then make a left onto Cherokee Place SE, before moving to turn right onto Connally Street SE, and subsequently taking a left onto Crumley Street SE, finally taking a left onto Martin Street SE, and a right onto Georgia Avenue SE to continue westbound.
