The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City reports clear skies with a current temperature of 25 degrees Fahrenheit as of their last update at 6:54 AM MST. The conditions also list a humidity of 84%, southeast winds at 5 miles per hour, and a wind chill factor placing the felt temperature at 19°F. Visibility stands at 9 miles under these clear conditions, as reported by the National Weather Service.
Looking forward to the week, the weather forecast promises a tranquil series of days. Celebrations on Martin Luther King Day will go unhindered by weather disturbances, with a sunny high near 42 degrees and light winds. This clear pattern is expected to consistently hold, with nighttime lows around 24 degrees and only light and variable winds in the forecast.
However, the NWS advises the community to be aware of widespread haze that will begin to settle in on Tuesday. The haze will persist through the week, barely taking a break in the nightly hours. Daytime temperatures will slowly climb slightly higher each day, with Wednesday and Thursday seeing highs creeping up to about 48 and 49 degrees, respectively.
The tranquility is to be briefly interrupted at week's end. By Friday, there's a slight chance for some excitement in the skies, and a light mix of rain and snow is possible after 11 am. Though the odds are slight, the possibility remains throughout the night and into Saturday. But, just as quickly as they arrive, these disturbances will mostly dissipate, leaving behind partly sunny skies and a high near 45 going into the weekend.
As Sunday rolls around, the forecasted weather seems to settle back into its steady rhythm. Mostly sunny skies with a high near 46 degrees are anticipated.
