
The Memphis Police Department is investigating a shooting in the High Point Terrace neighborhood that left three people injured. According to Action News 5, the incident occurred last Friday, at approximately 10:34 p.m. near Highpoint Terrace and Walnut Grove Road. Officers initially found no victims at the scene, but later, two women and one man arrived at local hospitals for treatment.
One of the female victims is reported to be in critical condition, while the other woman and the male victim are in non-critical condition. Memphis Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to come forward and can be reached at 901-528-CASH for tips. No suspect has been identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
FOX13 Memphis reported on the community’s response to the shooting, with residents describing their reactions. One neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, called the incident “scary” and said it was unusual for the area. Jack Gould, a recent High Point Terrace resident, initially mistook the gunfire for fireworks. “I thought it was fireworks. Took my dog out for a walk, heard the sirens and the police cars and realized I guessed wrong on that,” Gould said to FOX13.
Neighbors said High Point Terrace is generally a safe area and described the shooting as an unusual event. One resident, who wished to remain unnamed, told FOX13, “It’s been delightful. We love most people, the neighborhood, everybody is out and about, and everybody gets along here.” Jack Gould said, “I just pray for the families of the people involved and I hope it works out well.” Memphis Police continue to investigate the shooting, and Local Memphis encouraged anyone with information to contact CrimeStoppers.
