Two individuals were arrested last Friday for allegedly trespassing on railroad property in Del Mar. Reports emerged that the duo had been spotted riding atop a northbound Coaster train as it approached Del Mar, raising immediate concerns about their safety, according to information from the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.
The North Coastal Sheriff's Station received calls around 5:00 PM about the risky behavior. Deputies were dispatched to the scene but found the train-riding suspects had already disembarked and fled. A search ensued, resulting in the discovery of one suspect in the 200 block of South Coast Highway 101 in Solana Beach and another in the 300 block of South Cedros Avenue. Both admitted to their actions once located by law enforcement.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the individuals were arrested on suspicion of trespassing on railroad property. Notably, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The Sheriff’s Office is taking this opportunity to underscore the dangers of such behavior, not just to the individuals involved but also to the surrounding public. Trespassing on or near railroad tracks can lead to severe, sometimes fatal, consequences.
