An incident involving gun violence occurred in Opa-locka when two teenagers were shot outside their townhome. According to WSVN, witnesses reported that multiple masked individuals entered the residence, brought the teens outside, and then fired shots. The incident took place at the Mirage at Sailboat Cove, a gated community near Northwest 142nd Lane and 143rd Street.
A witness who said they were inside the townhome at the time reported that the attackers knocked on the door at approximately 2:30 a.m. before the incident occurred. In a statement obtained by WSVN, the witness said they were inside the residence when the knock was heard. The extent of the victims’ injuries was not immediately known. One of the teenagers was airlifted to a hospital, and no further information about their conditions was available as of 6 a.m.
Local 10 also reported a significant police presence in the gated community following the incident. The report described police vehicles positioned about a quarter mile from the main road, as well as a tow truck located a block from the scene near other law enforcement vehicles.
Residents have reported previous disturbances in the community, referencing earlier incidents in the area. In an interview with Local 10, residents mentioned a prior shooting involving an Uber driver in July 2024. Opa-locka Police have not confirmed the sequence of events described by witnesses, nor have they released information about possible suspects or arrests, as the investigation remains ongoing.
