New Orleans police are working another overnight homicide after a man was found shot to death early Tuesday near North Galvez Street. Officers located the victim near the intersection with Piety Street, called in emergency medical services, and responders later pronounced him dead at the scene. Homicide detectives have taped off the block as they search for evidence and try to track down anyone who saw or heard what happened.
What NOPD says
According to WVUE, officers were called to the area around 3 a.m. after reports of gunfire and arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot wound. New Orleans EMS confirmed the man was dead at the scene, and investigators say the case remains very much active.

Detectives are especially interested in talking with witnesses and in reviewing any surveillance or cellphone video from the surrounding streets as they canvass the neighborhood.

This latest killing lands on top of a run of early-morning shootings across New Orleans. As with other homicide cases, the Orleans Parish Coroner will release the victim’s name and determine the official cause of death after performing an autopsy, officials said.
