Yesterday morning, a stabbing at an Antioch Comfort Inn left a man fighting for his life, turning a budget hotel on Mahogany Way into an active crime scene, police said.
The attack was reported around 8:37 a.m. yesterday at the motel on the 2400 block of Mahogany Way, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Officers arrived to find a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where officials said he remained in critical condition on Monday. Police temporarily taped off the hotel’s parking lot while detectives combed the area for evidence.
Where It Happened
The property is listed as Comfort Inn Antioch - Century Plaza at 2436 Mahogany Way on the chain’s official site, which lines up with the block cited by police. The listing notes basic amenities and its location just off Somersville Road near Highway 4, according to Choice Hotels.
What Investigators Say
Detectives were canvassing the area for witnesses and additional evidence while the search for whoever was responsible continued, officials said. “Based on preliminary investigation, investigators believe this was a targeted incident,” officials said, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.
Background on the Property
The motel has already been on the radar of city officials for other reasons. In May 2025, the Antioch City Council discussed a HomeKey+ proposal to convert the Comfort Inn into permanent supportive housing, according to Contra Costa News. The plan would have rehabilitated the property into dozens of affordable units, though no conversion was finalized, the outlet reported.
