Early morning commuters in Boca Raton were met with unexpected delays today, as malfunctioning gate arms at railroad crossings caused significant traffic disruptions. According to CBS12, officials alerted the public to closures just west of I-95 at Palmetto Road and Camino Real Road, urging drivers to find alternative routes. The Boca Raton Police Department released a traffic advisory at 7:45 a.m. regarding the railroad malfunctions.
Motorists were expecting to quickly navigate through what became a morning snarl. In the wake of the traffic alert released by the Boca Raton Police Department, congestion built up, underscoring the critical nature of these passageways for daily travel. They advised motorists to "seek alternative routes to avoid delays," a statement obtained by CBS12 indicated.
In an update that came as a relief to many stranded on the roads, the railroad crossings were reported to have reopened a couple hours later. "UPDATE 9:28 a.m. - The railroad crossings just west of I-95/Palmetto and I-95/Camino have reopened. Please be patient as normal traffic resumes," the Boca Raton Police Department posted on their Facebook page.
