A routine traffic stop in Brisbane on Jan. 22 escalated quickly when officers pulled over a 36-year-old driver for a missing front license plate and discovered he was allegedly a fugitive out of Houston, wanted on allegations of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of indecency. Police say the man was identified as the subject of an extradition warrant, taken into custody, booked in San Mateo County, and later sent back to Texas to face those charges. City officials credited Corporal Valencia and his K-9 partner Ringo for the arrest.
Traffic stop turned up extradition warrant, city says
According to a police news release on the city website, the stop happened at about 9:30 AM after an officer spotted a vehicle with no front license plate. During the records check, the driver was identified as the wanted subject, and officers arrested him on an extradition warrant issued out of Houston, as per the City of Brisbane.
Where the suspect was held
San Mateo County's Corrections Division operates two main jail complexes, the Maguire Correctional Facility and the Maple Street Correctional Center, which house pretrial detainees and other inmates. Both are run by the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office and handle bookings for arrests made by local agencies.
The Brisbane release says the man was wanted in Houston on charges that include aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14 and two counts of indecency with a child, all tied to an Oct. 6, 2021, incident. According to the city, he was booked into the San Mateo County jail system and has since been extradited to Texas to face those allegations. Local officials again highlighted the work of Corporal Valencia and K-9 Ringo in making the arrest, per the City of Brisbane
