During Wisconsin School Bus Driver Appreciation Week, it’s important for parents and guardians to remind their children about school bus danger zones. These are the areas around the bus where students are at the greatest risk of being hit, according to the City of Brookfield WI Fire Department's Facebook post.
Kids should stay at least 12 feet away from the bus, avoid standing near the tires, and always wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before approaching. Taking these precautions helps ensure they remain visible and safe at all times, as reported by the City of Brookfield WI Fire Department.
When crossing in front of the bus, students should follow the driver’s directions and cross at least 10 feet in front of the bus to stay in clear view. Thank you to school bus drivers everywhere for your dedication to keeping our students safe.
