A peculiar break-in at the Swift Grill in Fort Pierce has made rounds on social media due to its almost comedic unraveling. CBS12 reported that the restaurant's surveillance captured a suspect tangled in a 6.5-minute wrangle with a cash register early Tuesday morning. The footage revealed the intruder's clumsy attempts, which ultimately led to a damaged office door, shattered glassware, and the theft of a bag of coins.
The Swift Grill took the incident to Facebook, stating, "They say people are ‘breaking down the doors’ to get our food... but this wasn't exactly what we had in mind." Despite the break-in and the destruction, the restaurant is looking ahead, emphasizing their resolve with an assurance to customers that they are sprucing up and will continue operations as usual. In the same social media update, CBS12 noted the grill's ongoing preparations for their second location's grand opening at PSL Heart of Tradition.
Furthermore, WPBF provided additional details on the event, clarifying that the suspect acquired not only coins but also helped himself to several beers. It turns out a security system malfunction permitted the perpetrator to gain entrance into Swift Grill without triggering alerts. According to WPBF, the restaurant's owner estimated that the thief escaped with a few hundred dollars in total.
The Fort Pierce Police Department is on the lookout for the man caught on camera during this unconventional burglary. Both Swift Grill and authorities have called upon the community to assist in identifying the man responsible for the break-in, with the restaurant cheekily referring to the burglar as an "entrepreneur." "To our Fort Pierce neighbors: Keep your eyes peeled," the grill implored in the Facebook post, as shared by CBS12. The Fort Pierce Police urge anyone with information on the suspect to get in touch.
