Davie Town Hall is gearing to thoroughly test its emergency response protocols with a fire drill scheduled for next Thursday, an exercise that will see the activation of building alarms and involve a blend of indoor and outdoor activities. Slated to take place from 7:45 to 9 a.m. on February 19 at the Town Hall located at Pine Island Park, 8800 SW 36th Street, this drill, as reported by the Town of Davie, is a staff-only event designed to brace the municipal workforce for the unforeseen blaze.
During this window of time, several key departments will be momentarily out of commission. Residents seeking assistance from the Building Division, Business Tax Receipt, Engineering Division, and Utilities Customer Service housed in Building A, or those in need of Budget and Finance or Information Technology services located in Building B, will have to temporarily redirect their inquiries. Additional departments, including Administration, the Community Redevelopment Agency, the Mayor and Town Council offices, Planning and Zoning, the Town Attorney and the Town Clerk within Building C, along with Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts in Building D, and the Human Resources Department will also join in this pause to better prepare themselves to act quickly should a real emergency ever occur.
Those planning to use the Pine Island Multipurpose Center, Pine Island Park (Bamford Sports Complex), or the Fitness and Aquatic Center can breathe easy, as these facilities will maintain their regular schedules without interruption. According to the town's announcement, clear signage will be positioned at park entrances to inform visitors of the ongoing drill, ensuring no confusion regarding the day's activities.
Media presence or participation isn't on the agenda for this safety-centric morning, but the general public can obtain further information by reaching out to the Human Resources Department at 954-797-1100. Inquiries from the press can be directed to either [email protected], 954-797-1102, or 954-797-1035.
