A late-night domestic dispute that began in Des Plaines and ended in neighboring Park Ridge left one person in the hospital and another dead, according to local police. What started as a reported physical confrontation inside a home ended minutes later when first responders found the other person inside a vehicle and pronounced them dead.
Police: Call in Des Plaines, One Taken to Hospital
Des Plaines officers were called to the 600 block of Jill Court around 11:15 p.m. Saturday for reports of a domestic disturbance. Responding officers learned a physical confrontation had left one person with non-life-threatening injuries. That person was treated at the scene and then taken to a nearby hospital, according to CBS Chicago.
Suspicious Car in Park Ridge, Autopsy Scheduled
Roughly 35 minutes after the Des Plaines call, Park Ridge police were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of Meacham Avenue. Inside, officers found the person who had fled the Des Plaines scene with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Park Ridge fire personnel pronounced the person dead at the scene and notified the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, as reported by Patch.
Few Details as Investigation Continues
Detectives from both Des Plaines and Park Ridge are still piecing together what led up to the violence, and officials are keeping a tight lid on details while they do it. Police said Sunday they were not releasing additional information, and authorities have not publicly identified the people involved or announced any charges, per CBS Chicago.
