One person is dead after a crash last night in east Charlotte that has detectives once again focused on a troubled stretch of Lawyers Road.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department detectives responded around 7 p.m. to the intersection of Lawyers Road and Split Oak Drive, where Mecklenburg EMS (MEDIC) pronounced one person dead at the scene. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity or said what led to the wreck.
According to WSOC, officers were called to the intersection and found the victim when they arrived. The station reported that no additional details were immediately available and that the investigation remains active.
Lawyers Road’s Troubling Crash History
Lawyers Road and nearby corridors have seen other deadly crashes in recent years, including a fatal motorcycle crash on Lawyers Road in October 2024 and a deadly car crash in October 2025, as Hoodline previously reported.
Those earlier incidents raised local concerns about safety along this busy east Charlotte corridor and brought repeated crash investigations from CMPD's Major Crash Investigation Unit.
Investigation Still Taking Shape
CMPD detectives remained at the scene Monday night and have opened a formal investigation. Officials have not yet released information about how the collision happened or whether anyone else was hurt.
