
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating a deputy-involved shooting that occurred yesterday, in the Northwest District of Miami-Dade. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 4:00 p.m. to a report of a 52-year-old woman self-harming with a knife on NW 189 Street and NW 55 Avenue.
During the encounter, one deputy discharged their firearm, striking the woman. She was transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. No deputies were injured. The woman’s identity has not been released, and the investigation, case number PD260207038092, is ongoing.
Officials have not released further details about what led to the use of lethal force. The FDLE is handling the investigation, as is standard in deputy-involved shootings.
