A South Side street corner turned into a crime scene late last month, and now Chicago police say they have their suspect.
Officers have arrested and charged 25-year-old Jawon Buchanan in connection with a Gresham shooting that left a 22-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to police. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was listed in fair condition after the Jan. 30 shooting.
Police say Buchanan was taken into custody on Feb. 7 in the 700 block of East 111th Street. He faces charges including aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm and aggravated domestic battery. The shooting happened near 78th Street and Ashland Avenue in the Gresham neighborhood, and the woman was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center for treatment. Buchanan is scheduled for a detention hearing Tuesday at the courthouse at 2600 S. California Ave., as reported by FOX 32 Chicago.

Buchanan’s initial detention hearing is set for the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse, home to Cook County’s Criminal and Pretrial divisions. The Leighton courthouse, at 2600 S.
