An early-morning shooting just north of downtown Fort Worth today left one person dead at the scene and another in the hospital, according to police.
Officers responded overnight to the 500 block of Cabral Circle, where they found two people shot. One victim was pronounced dead, and the second was taken to a local hospital in unknown condition. Investigators said they were still working to figure out what led up to the violence.
As reported by WFAA, officers at the scene said it remained unclear what sparked the gunfire or whether any suspects were in custody.
Investigation and local context
Detectives spent the early hours processing evidence and talking with witnesses in the neighborhood as the investigation got underway. The incident adds to a recent stretch of violent crime in the city, where a December parking-lot shooting also leaned heavily on witness video and community tips to move the case forward, per Hoodline.
How to help
Authorities typically ask anyone with information or surveillance footage to contact the Fort Worth Police Department or Tarrant County Crime Stoppers. As WFAA reported, police had not said whether any arrests had been made as of its latest update.
The Fort Worth Police Department has not released the names of the victims or additional details about the shooting, and detectives say the case remains active. We will update this story as officials release more information.
