
Thursday evening in the Frayser neighborhood of North Memphis ended at a crime scene after a man was shot and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Officers found the wounded man in the 2800 block of Vayu Drive, and emergency crews moved quickly to get him to a nearby trauma center while investigators locked down the area.
Police say the call about the shooting came in around 6:45 p.m. Responding officers located the victim when they arrived, and he was taken to the hospital in critical condition. As of the latest update, Memphis police had not released any suspect information, and no arrests had been made, according to WREG.

Investigators are urging anyone who might have seen something, or who has photos or video from the area, to contact CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH. The Memphis Police Department lists this anonymous tipline as the primary way to submit leads in connection with the Vayu Drive shooting.
Frayser's recent violence
Thursday's gunfire is the latest in a string of shootings to hit Frayser in recent weeks. Earlier this week, two wounded on Dabbs Avenue in another early-morning shooting. Action News 5 and other local outlets have repeatedly covered separate Frayser shootings and MPD investigations over the last year, underscoring an ongoing pattern of neighborhood gun violence.
