What began as an aggravated assault call in east Charlotte has now turned into a homicide case, police say. Adie Moreira‑Martinez, who was found with life‑threatening injuries in early February, died from those injuries yesterday, after spending weeks in the hospital. Officers first responded on February 4 to an assault report along Harrisburg Road near Pence Road, where they found her and rushed her to a local hospital for treatment.
According to WCNC, the Charlotte‑Mecklenburg Police Department said officers discovered Moreira‑Martinez with life‑threatening wounds on February 4. A suspect was taken into custody yesterday, and detectives are now treating the case as an active homicide investigation while they continue to collect evidence.
