Randy’s Donuts, the Los Angeles doughnut institution famous for its oversized rooftop sign, is finally rolling into the Bay Area with a new shop in Santa Clara. The arrival brings the brand’s handmade doughnuts and Randy’s Roast coffee to a busy Homestead Road commercial strip and sets up a local base for further Northern California expansion.
The chain’s official locations page lists 2595 Homestead Road as the Santa Clara address. Randy’s Donuts added a “coming soon” listing for the site in 2025.
Timeline shift
When Randy’s first announced the Santa Clara deal in May 2025, franchisees told reporters they were aiming for a third-quarter 2025 debut. SFGATE reported that initial timetable, but the opening has since slid into 2026.
What the Santa Clara shop will look like
The Santa Clara location is being set up as a production-focused space, with a large kitchen and only limited indoor seating for roughly four to eight customers, plus outdoor seating. The building includes a drive-through lane, but it will not be in use when the shop opens, with franchisees citing local considerations. City rules in Santa Clara also reportedly prevent the chain’s signature 32-foot rooftop doughnut from being installed, so the shop will go with a much smaller version instead. The menu is expected to run from Randy’s classic glazed and cake doughnuts to premium options like Nutella-raised and bacon-maple long johns, according to WhatNow.
Commissary role and Bay Area rollout
Owners say the Santa Clara shop will also double as a commissary kitchen, supplying additional Randy’s locations across the Bay Area. That broader rollout is being handled by franchise group Sweet Rings LLC, led by Adeel Siddiqui and partners, who have said they are planning three to four more stores in cities such as San Jose, Fremont, and Redwood City. NBC Bay Area highlighted the commissary setup, while The San Francisco Chronicle profiled Siddiqui’s franchise group.
Across the street: local rivalry
The new Randy’s will land directly across Homestead Road from Stan’s Donut Shop, a long-running neighborhood staple that has anchored that strip for decades. Reaction from locals has ranged from curious to cautiously optimistic, with some regulars saying there is room for both shops, while others emphasize Stan’s deep roots in the community. SFGATE covered the face-off and early neighborhood chatter.
There is still no firm opening date; franchisees say they will announce a ribbon-cutting and final hours as launch gets closer. For now, customers hungry for updates can keep an eye on the brand’s locations page and local news coverage as construction wraps up. Randy’s Donuts and NBC Bay Area are among the places to watch for the exact opening day.
