A 47-year-old motorcyclist was killed Monday night in Marrero when his bike slammed into a car on Barataria Boulevard, according to Louisiana State Police. The rider, identified as Paris Harris of Avondale, was thrown from his 2005 Suzuki and pronounced dead at the scene. As reported by NOLA.com, troopers said the driver of a 2010 Hyundai Elantra cut in front of Harris to make a U-turn, and the motorcycle hit the Elantra's passenger side. The Elantra driver was not injured, according to the report.
What Investigators Say
"Speed may have been a contributing factor," Louisiana State Police told NOLA.com. Troopers said they do not believe impairment played a role. Routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers as the crash remains under investigation.

Troop B has investigated multiple fatal crashes along LA-45 and Barataria Boulevard in recent years, underscoring ongoing safety concerns on the west bank corridor, according to Louisiana State Police Troop B.
