Where It Happened
The shooting unfolded at the El Paseo de Saratoga shopping center in west San Jose, a long‑standing retail strip that has been the subject of a multi‑year overhaul effort. Hoodline coverage of plans for a sprawling new urban village has tracked years of redevelopment proposals and shifting tenants at the property.
Violence in San Jose This Month
Today’s killing adds to a troubling run of violent incidents San Jose has been dealing with this month. Earlier in February, separate shootings in downtown left two people dead and several others wounded, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Police have continued to characterize those cases as isolated as investigators work to sort out motives and track down more witnesses.
How to Help
Authorities have not yet released the names of the man and woman who were killed. Anyone with information is asked to contact the San José Police Department Homicide Unit at 408‑277‑5283 or to submit anonymous tips through Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers. San José Police said a formal press release is expected.
