
A midday three-car crash in Avon on Wednesday left one person dead and turned a busy stretch near Rockville Road and County Road 525 East into an active investigation scene for hours, according to Hendricks County officials. Emergency crews kept the area shut down while the sheriff's office documented the wreckage and collected evidence. Authorities have not yet released the victim's name or any other identifying details.
The Hendricks County Sheriff's Department told WISH‑TV that the collision involved three vehicles and happened around noon. At the time, the outlet described the crash as a developing story, noting that investigators were still working to piece together what led to the deadly wreck.
Rockville Road Safety Spotlighted
Rockville Road, the stretch of U.S. 36 that cuts through Avon, has already been under the microscope for safety concerns following earlier fatal crashes. WRTV reported that the Indiana Department of Transportation has taken steps such as restriping lanes, adding reflective beads and tweaking turn-lane markings on parts of Rockville Road after past deadly collisions.
