Midnight gunfire jolted a Crystal neighborhood early Saturday when a 25-year-old man was shot outside a home, prompting a swift police response and two detentions at the scene, authorities said.
Hennepin County dispatchers received a 911 call at about 12:21 a.m., and officers arrived to find the man outside a residence in the 5300 block of 35th Avenue North with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. He was treated and stabilized at the scene, then taken to a local hospital, where he is expected to survive his injuries, according to reports from KSTP and CBS Minnesota.
Officers detained two people at the residence as the investigation began, KSTP reported. Detectives are continuing interviews, and no names or potential charges have been released.
Police have secured the scene while investigators work to untangle the sequence of events that led to the shooting. Authorities do not believe the incident was random and say there is no danger to the public at this time, according to CBS Minnesota.
