Early Friday, a quiet overnight in Delray Beach turned deadly when a man was struck and killed by a stray bullet while inside his home, according to police. Neighbors reported hearing a burst of gunfire just after midnight outside a residence in the area, and the man was rushed to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
According to WPEC, dispatchers received multiple 911 calls around 12:01 a.m. reporting shots fired in the 500 block of NW 5th Court, near Barwick Park. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside his home. Police said he had no role in the gunfire that erupted outside.
Per WPBF, the unidentified victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Detectives said no arrests have been made, and investigators are actively searching for a suspect and following up on leads as they try to piece together who opened fire and why.
