Job seekers in downtown Miami have a new place to polish their resumes and prep for interviews, thanks to a collaboration between the Miami-Dade Public Library System and CareerSource South Florida. The partnership has produced a hiring and training center housed in the Main Library, all aimed at connecting residents with job opportunities and training resources.

During a ribbon-cutting ceremony scheduled for February 17, Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will be present to usher in the CareerSource South Florida Center. "This new CareerSource South Florida Center reflects our commitment to expanding access to job training and employment opportunities for all residents," Levine Cava said, according to a press release from the county. Her reported pledge outlines the county's broader strategy, which includes a "No Wrong Door" approach that meets community members where they are, offering career services, digital literacy, and a bridge to reliable internet access.

Funding for this initiative is drawn from a hefty digital equity grant totaling over $1.2 million from the FloridaCommerce Office of Broadband. These funds form part of a wider sweep of financial support funneled into Miami-Dade County, surpassing $13.5 million for projects enhancing digital resource access and internet reliability under the County’s Broadband and Digital Equity Plan.

The hiring and training center isn't just a place to hunt for jobs. It's equipped with technology, workspaces, and, connections to employers, and also assists with resume writing and interview preparation. The center's operations are managed by workforce development provider Arbor E&T, LLC, and will welcome visitors Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Residents interested in the services offered can find more information at the CareerSource website or by calling their office directly, according to the county's official website.

If you're in the job market or looking to beef up some digital skills, set your sights on 101 West Flagler Street at the Main Library in downtown Miami this coming Tuesday.
