The Oklahoma House has renamed the Veterans Caucus to the Veterans and Public Safety Caucus to include public safety officers alongside military veterans. Air Force veteran Rep. Derrick Hildebrant, R-Catoosa, will serve as chairman, and Rep. John George, R-Newalla, will serve as vice chairman.
According to the Oklahoma House of Representatives release, Hildebrant has 25 years of service with the Oklahoma Air National Guard, while George has five years in the Oklahoma National Guard and over 30 years with the Oklahoma City Police Department. The caucus aims to support veterans, law enforcement, firefighters, and other first responders.
The renaming reflects a broader legislative focus on providing resources, support, and recognition for both military and public safety personnel throughout Oklahoma.
