Orlando City SC has dipped into the local lore of Florida's Treasure Coast for their latest jersey unveiling. The new secondary "Sunken Treasure Kit" is primarily gold, an homage to the famous 1715 Treasure Fleet that met its fate off the coastline in a hurricane, with shipwrecks yielding gold, silver, and precious gems. This kit is set to make its way into the club's history as the first time Orlando City players will don a predominantly gold uniform, ClickOrlando reported.
Pedro Araujo, the club's Chief Marketing Officer, underscored the significance of the jersey, saying, "We’re incredibly excited to unveil the first kit in Club history to be predominantly Florida Gold, an iconic color inspired by a truly unique and authentic Florida story that reflects the rich history of our home state." Araujo continued to express that the jersey serves as a tribute to the team's supporters, emphasizing that "this kit is a tribute to our fans and supporters, who are the true treasure of this club," he stated, as per WESH. The golden hues on the jersey are complemented by deep purple accents and white detailing, which are intended to symbolize sunlight piercing through sea water.
Away from the shimmering fabrics and oceanic theming, Orlando Health is set to extend their tenure as the jersey's presenting sponsor for a 16th consecutive year. The jersey was made available to the public starting today, through the official team store and other online retail outlets, with special promotions including a limited-edition coin and an exclusive CITYiD patch for buyers at the launch event.
