
A tragic incident unfolded on Wednesday night when a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Atlanta. The accident occurred at approximately 10:30pm on Campbellton Rd, according to the Atlanta Police Department. In a statement obtained by the Atlanta Police Department's news release, responding officers discovered an unresponsive male in the roadway, who was later declared deceased at the scene by emergency medical services.
The initial investigation has revealed that the victim was wearing dark clothing and erratically entering the roadway, running back and forth from the curb into traffic and even sitting in traffic lanes. This behavior continued repeatedly until the male was eventually struck by a passing motorist. The motorist involved in the incident has remained on scene and is currently cooperating with the authorities as they continue to fully investigate to determine all the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The area of 3120 Campbellton Rd, where the incident occurred, was canvassed by the APD Accident Investigations unit, looking for evidence and witness accounts that could shed light on the series of events leading to the man’s death. No charges have been mentioned, and there is yet to be any indication of impairment or negligence on behalf of the motorist. The identity of the victim has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. Atlanta police are urging anyone with information about the accident to come forward to assist in completing a clear picture of this fatal occurrence.
