Psycho Donuts has quietly shuttered its longtime Winchester Boulevard shop in downtown Campbell, but the cult-favorite brand is not frying its last batch just yet. The team says they are already scouting a fresh Campbell spot while fast-tracking a larger production-and-retail hub in Gilroy that would give their off-the-wall menu room to grow. In the meantime, the old Winchester storefront is already signaling that another donut outfit is lining up to take the space.
Owner Jay Sanchez and shop management told reporters they were “hunting for a new Campbell home” and were “not going anywhere,” framing the move as a strategic exit rather than a final chapter. They said they walked away from the Winchester space after failing to reach an agreement with the landlord to expand and upgrade the facilities, according to East Bay Times.
Gilroy Site Aims To Let The Brand Scale Up
The company has been laying groundwork for a Gilroy outpost that would combine a production kitchen with a retail counter, a plan first reported by Silicon Valley Business Journal. Psycho’s online menu already leans into maximalist creations like the “Cereal Killer,” and management has suggested the new facility is meant to support larger runs and more experimental specials. For a taste of where the menu is headed, see the examples at Psycho Donuts.
Winchester Storefront Already Showing New Signs
At the former 2006 S. Winchester Blvd unit, new signage has gone up announcing that Rolling Pin Donuts will be taking over the lease, and some online business directories have already flipped the listing. East Bay Times photographed the fresh signage, while MapQuest currently tags the Campbell Psycho Donuts location as “permanently closed.”
Timeline Still Fuzzy For Campbell And Gilroy
So far, owners have not posted a reopening date or any detailed timetable on the company’s site, and there is no firm public schedule yet for the Gilroy project. Customers can still see the Campbell address and posted hours listed on the official site at Psycho Donuts, a reminder that the online footprint has not fully caught up with the on-the-ground changes. Hoodline’s earlier coverage of the brand’s 2021 Valley Fair comeback shows this is not the first time Psycho has adjusted its format and footprint, see 2021 Valley Fair comeback for background.
