An early-morning hit-and-run at N. Capitol Avenue and Longford Drive in San Jose left an adult woman dead today, and police are now searching for the driver who took off before officers arrived.
San Jose officers were called to the scene shortly after 6:20 AM for reports of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle. The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to police. North Capitol Avenue was shut down between Longford Drive and Camino Del Rey for several hours while investigators documented the scene and collected evidence.
San José Police Media Relations posted an alert about the collision on X and said a formal press release would follow. The department also urged the public to avoid the area while officers remained on scene.
