Early this morning, the Boston Police Fugitive Unit teamed up with Massachusetts State Police and U.S. Marshals to apprehend 66-year-old Jose Renderos, a suspect in a sexual assault case originating out of California. The joint operation, which took place in East Boston, successfully located Renderos at approximately 7:25 AM in the vicinity of 74 White Street. Renderos, who was previously a fugitive, now faces charges on both coasts.
The arrest comes as a result of an exhaustive search, initiated by a full extradition warrant from the Los Angeles Police Department. Renderos was located and apprehended in East Boston, an area known to be his last reported domicile. Boston Police detailed the operation in a recent post on their official website, noting that Renderos is also wanted on a warrant as a fugitive from justice.
Renderos's alleged acts have triggered legal proceedings that will see him standing before a judge in the East Boston District Court, where formal charges will be presented and a trial date set.
