Florida's Fantasy 5 game turned two ordinary stops into lottery hot spots on Monday night, after a pair of tickets matched all five numbers in the Evening drawing to snag roughly $53,429 each. One winning ticket was sold at a Chevron in tiny Micanopy, while the other was a Quick Pick bought at a Publix in Port St. Lucie.
The Fantasy 5 Evening numbers were 3, 4, 10, 17 and 32, according to the Associated Press, which also reported that lottery officials confirmed two tickets matched all five numbers in that draw.
One of those winners played a Quick Pick at the Publix in Port St. Lucie, while the other winning ticket was sold at a Chevron station in Micanopy, the Miami Herald reported. The Herald put the value of each top-prize Fantasy 5 ticket at approximately $53,429 and noted that neither winner had claimed the money as of publication. For locals keeping score, the Publix involved is the Darwin Square location in Port St. Lucie.
How winners claim their prizes
Under Florida Lottery rules, draw-game prizes of $600 or more must be claimed at a Lottery district office or at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. Certain prize ranges are handled at district offices, while larger prizes are processed at headquarters, as outlined in the state’s rules. Winners are generally required to sign the back of the ticket, present identification and complete a Winner Claim Form, and there are statutory deadlines for filing a claim. The administrative rules spell out the payment and documentation procedures players should expect.
The Miami Herald also pointed out that the nearest district office for a Treasure Coast winner would be in the Palm Springs/West Palm Beach area, where a Port St. Lucie claimant could validate and submit a winning ticket. Micanopy, which bills itself as Florida’s oldest inland town, briefly found itself in the lottery spotlight after its Chevron sold one of the winning tickets, giving a small-town twist to a statewide game. For local reference, mapping services list the Port St. Lucie Publix as the Darwin Square store.
