A fatal car accident is currently under investigation in Hanover Township after a single-vehicle crash on February 20 resulted in the death of a 47-year-old man, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Richard K. Jones reported that deputies responded to the intersection of Millville Avenue and Wencella Drive upon the initial call at around 1:36 a.m.
First responders from the Hanover Township Fire Department and medic units assessed the condition of the driver upon their arrival they pronounced him deceased at the scene, a sobering reminder of the fragility of life on the road, especially when alcohol and excessive speed are suspected contributing factors, according to the investigation which is looking into the possibility that the driver lost control of his vehicle, veered off the left side of the roadway, and collided with a utility pole, with the seriousness of the incident clearly marked by the immediate dispatch of the Sheriff's Office Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (S.T.A.R.T.), as posted on the official Butler County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.
