The West Allis Police Department is opening registrations for its 10-week Community Police Academy, running on Monday evenings from March 2 to May 4. The program aims to give residents a close look at local law enforcement through presentations and hands-on activities, as reported by the West Allis Police Department.
Participants will engage with Patrol Officers, K-9 Handlers, Traffic Investigators, Detectives, and SWAT members, including firing a handgun on the police range. Sessions will be held weekly from 6-9 p.m. at the Assembly Room on 11301 W. Lincoln Ave, as stated by the West Allis Police Department.
According to the West Allis Police Department on their Facebook page, the Community Police Academy allows residents to learn about local law enforcement through tours, lectures, and handgun firing sessions. Registration is online on the police department’s website, and the program provides a way for the public to see how the police operate.
