Tempesta Market, the West Loop deli known for piled-high Italian sandwiches and house-cured meats, is set to open a Rosemont outpost this summer. The new shop will be part of a small restaurant row the village is assembling near O’Hare and will arrive alongside a new Eggsperience Café. The Rosemont move would mark Tempesta’s first expansion beyond the city.
Village-owned building lands new tenants
As reported by Daily Herald, the two eateries will move into a single-story commercial building the village purchased last summer. The village board recently approved a lease for Eggsperience covering about 4,000 square feet, in a space that previously housed a Ram Restaurant & Brewery, while the site as a whole once included a Starbucks.
Tempesta joins budding Higgins Road row
WhatNow reports that Tempesta will take over the former Starbucks space, while Eggsperience will move into part of the old Ram footprint. Work on both businesses is expected to begin soon, and the owners are aiming to open their Rosemont locations by the end of the summer.
Tempesta’s West Loop roots
Tempesta began in 2017 under father-and-son team Agostino and Tony Fiasche and operates a deli and market at 1372 W. Grand Avenue, according to Tempesta Market. Local profiles have highlighted the Fiasches’ house-cured salumi, including spicy 'nduja, along with a hearty sandwich lineup, as noted in Chicago Magazine.
Village invested to attract tenants
The village bought the roughly 16,250-square-foot building for $2.5 million last summer and is offering tenant allowances while also paying for a new roof and updated heating and cooling systems, Daily Herald reports. Lease terms for the new tenants are said to be about $32 per square foot, and another 1,700 square feet in the building remains available.
What to expect on Higgins Road
WhatNow notes that next to the former Ram space are a Cilantro Taco Grill and a FedEx office, and that Tempesta’s Rosemont location will include both indoor and outdoor seating. Village officials and the proprietors describe the project as part of a broader push to fill vacant storefronts near the airport and expand dining options along Higgins Road.
