
A 36-year-old woman was found shot to death inside a West Rogers Park home Friday morning, Chicago police said. Officers located the victim in the 6900 block of North Bell Avenue just before 9:15 a.m.; she had at least one gunshot wound to the abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting were not immediately clear, and police said no other injuries were reported. Authorities have not released the victim’s name and did not immediately offer further details, ABC7 Chicago reported. Area Three detectives have opened an investigation into the case.
A neighborhood still on edge
The killing is the latest violent incident on the Far North Side after a string of recent shootings in the Rogers Park area. On Jan. 11, a 26-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting in Rogers Park, according to NBC Chicago.

Police have not announced any arrests and the Cook County medical examiner had not released the victim’s identity, ABC7 Chicago reported.
