A Saturday afternoon turned deadly on Chicago's North Side when gunfire tore through a basement apartment in Albany Park, killing a 24-year-old man and wounding a 29-year-old man, according to police. The younger man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was rushed to the hospital. Authorities have not yet released either victim's name.

The shooting unfolded around 2:52 p.m. in the 4900 block of North Harding, according to FOX 32 Chicago. Police said the 24-year-old man was shot multiple times inside the basement residence and died there. The 29-year-old man was hit in the left foot and taken to Swedish Hospital, where he was listed in fair condition. An unknown attacker opened fire, police told the outlet.

By Saturday evening, no one was in custody, and detectives from Area Five were leading the investigation, FOX 32 Chicago reports. Police described the details as preliminary and did not release a suspect description or possible motive. Investigators were expected to keep canvassing the area and review any available surveillance video as the case develops.
