Downtown Grosse Pointe Farms is trading one longtime Italian haunt for another, as Tavola Mia, a new Italian brunch and dinner concept, gets ready to open in the Kercheval storefront long occupied by The Bronze Door. Owners are aiming for a mid-April debut while crews finish the interior and menus are locked in.
What Now Detroit first reported the handoff, noting a co-owner who said the team hopes to open sometime in mid-April. The Bronze Door closed on Dec. 31, 2025, the Joe Vicari Restaurant Group confirmed, according to The Detroit News.
The restaurant’s site bills Tavola Mia as “Italian brunch and dinner” and lays out a seafood-forward menu featuring shrimp cocktail, North Atlantic fried calamari and PEI mussels, plus pizzas like margherita and bianca and brunch plates such as an Arcadian Benedict. The site lists hours of 9 a.m.–9 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and 9 a.m.–10 p.m. Friday–Saturday and carries a banner reading “Coming Soon! What’s Changing on the Hill
The new restaurant will sit a few doors down from Luxe Bar & Grill and near Dirty Dog Jazz Cafe and Cafe Nini, keeping the Kercheval block a mix of nightlife and neighborhood dining, according to What Now Detroit.
