Daly City’s beloved Ling Nam Restaurant and Bakeshop is stepping out of its home turf, with two Ling Nam Express shops now in the works and construction already underway at both sites. The Daly City-born bakery is rolling out grab-and-go outposts in Union City and downtown South San Francisco, both designed as quicker, streamlined versions of the spot best known for its wildly popular señorita bread.
Where They’ll Be
In Union City, crews are at work inside the Union Square Marketplace at 1760 Decoto Road, where the first Ling Nam Express is targeting a June 2026 opening, according to KRON4. A second express shop is also under construction at 231 Grand Ave in South San Francisco, right near the city’s downtown. Both new locations will carry the Ling Nam Express name.
A Peninsula Mainstay Goes Express
Ling Nam traces its roots to around 1990 and has long been a late-night magnet, thanks in large part to a bakery counter stocked with pillowy señorita (Spanish) bread. KQED notes the business added a Starbread kiosk in 2009 and that boxes of hot señorita bread have become a fixture at Filipino gatherings across the Peninsula. That long-running reputation helps explain the regular lines and why the team clearly thinks an express format can succeed in new neighborhoods.
Why Locals Care
Señorita bread is a soft roll layered with butter and sugar, and it has built a devoted fan base across Peninsula neighborhoods and beyond. Local food roundups have spotlighted its popularity at both longtime shops and newer bakeries, per The Almanac. KRON4 reports Ling Nam will serve its famed señorita bread at the new express spots, which all but guarantees some serious opening-day buzz.
What To Watch Next
Ling Nam has not yet released full hours or complete menus for the express locations, so details are still to come. For now, city permit filings and the shops’ official channels are the best way to track exact opening dates and any new announcements. We will update as the Union City and South San Francisco build-outs move forward and the company confirms hours and offerings.
