A 50-year-old Hollywood man is facing serious charges after Broward deputies say a planned Grindr hookup in Dania Beach turned out to be a sting involving an underage decoy. The man, identified by investigators as Miguel Angel Cruz, was arrested Friday after authorities say he tried to meet who he believed was a 15-year-old boy in a Walmart parking lot, where an online decoy group confronted him before calling law enforcement. Deputies say Cruz had already solicited explicit photos and brought condoms to the meetup.

The meetup was arranged for the Walmart parking lot at 433 Sheridan St. in Dania Beach. Members of the online group showed up instead, confronted Cruz on site and dialed 911. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived and took Cruz into custody without incident. Investigators say he admitted that he traveled there to meet who he thought was a minor and intended to engage in sexual activity.
