A passerby called 911 around 6:45 a.m., and responding officers discovered what appeared to be a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle. Traffic in the area was briefly reduced while detectives documented the scene.

According to WATE, officers found an adult man who appeared to have been hit by a motor vehicle. Police say the victim has been identified, but his name is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
Southbound traffic was reduced to one lane at about 7:26 a.m. while crews worked the scene, and the roadway was fully reopened around 8:15 a.m. The Sevierville Police Department’s Accident Reconstruction Team and Criminal Investigations Division are handling the investigation, authorities told WATE.
