
A person was left in critical condition Wednesday night after a shooting on Indianapolis' east side near East 21st Street and Rama Place, police said. Officers were called to the area just before 8 p.m., and medics rushed the wounded person to a hospital, where they were listed in critical condition. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department blocked off the scene near Shadeland Avenue while detectives combed the area for evidence.
What police said
IMPD said the gunfire broke out just before 8 p.m. in the area of East 21st Street and Rama Place, just west of Shadeland Avenue. One person was taken to a hospital in critical condition, and detectives began processing the scene shortly after, according to WTHR.
East-side context
The shooting is the latest in a string of east-side incidents that have stretched investigators and rattled neighbors.
