Early Tuesday evening on Aurora's North State Street, a burst of gunfire shattered the calm, hitting both a home and a nearby church and sending police racing to the scene. No one was hurt, but the incident quickly turned the 100 block into an active investigation zone as officers locked down the area and detectives began sorting out who pulled the trigger.
Aurora police told WSPYNews that the city's ShotSpotter system recorded six gunshots, which struck both the residence and the church on the block. No injuries were reported. Officers later found a vehicle near the scene and recovered three guns from it, including one that had been reported stolen out of East Chicago. A juvenile and two adults were taken into custody for questioning and were later released while investigators conduct a forensic review of the firearms and other seized evidence.
