A 54-year-old man is fighting for his life after a brutal chain of collisions left him critically injured on Grand Avenue in Gurnee on Saturday night. Witnesses and first responders found him in the roadway after he was hit once, only for him to be struck again in a separate crash moments later. He was rushed to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life‑threatening injuries.

According to FOX 32 Chicago, the chaos unfolded a little before 8 p.m. on Grand Avenue east of Dilleys Road, where the pedestrian was crossing outside a designated crosswalk. An 81-year-old woman driving a Honda CR‑V allegedly struck the man, then left the scene. Police later found the SUV at the driver’s home in Beach Park.
After the initial impact, a Chevrolet Colorado driven by a 26-year-old woman hit the pedestrian while he was still in the roadway and stayed at the scene. That pickup was then struck by a Kia driven by a 35-year-old woman, turning an already serious crash into a full-blown multi-vehicle scene.
