River North is lining up another late-night option, this time with a wink. Kitty's Cosmopolitan Club, a speakeasy-style cocktail lounge, is set to take over the corner unit at 51 W Hubbard Street, Suite 200, promising late-night drinks and classic cocktails to go with the neighborhood's steady stream of new restaurants. The concept is described as a traditional American speakeasy with a special focus on cosmopolitans and wine, although there is still no official opening date and no bar manager has been named yet. Early concept images and short social teases show a polished, cocktail-forward look, suggesting a high-end hideaway on a block that has been reshaped by recent openings and constant hotel traffic.
That early word comes via What Now Chicago, which first reported the bar's name and shared a social teaser reading, "a new door opens this spring." The outlet notes that the project is part of Lettuce Entertain You's broader push in the Chicago market and that Kitty's will join Crying Tiger in the same building. What Now Chicago also spells out the corner location at Hubbard and Dearborn, and runs through other tenants on the block.
Crying Tiger itself opened in October 2025 as a collaboration between Lettuce Entertain You and chef Thai Dang, anchoring the same 51 W Hubbard address. As detailed by Lettuce Entertain You, the restaurant focuses on Southeast Asian dishes, including curries, grilled wagyu, and prawn toast, with a beverage program built to play well with bold, shareable plates. In those same materials, Lettuce flagged a yet-to-be-named cocktail bar in the building's lower level as part of the original buildout, so Kitty's appears to be the long-planned piece finally stepping into the spotlight.
Drinks And Design
Local reviews have praised Crying Tiger's cocktail list and theatrical interiors, while also noting that beverage director Kevin Beary was expected to debut a separate lower-level bar later in the year. Chicago Magazine highlighted how the new concepts reworked the former Hub 51 footprint into a lush, tropical-tinged dining and drinking destination, a far cry from the space's previous life. That strong focus on cocktails as a standalone draw helps explain why a speakeasy-style concept like Kitty's makes sense under the same roof, rather than as a simple side lounge.
Where It Will Sit On The Block
Kitty's is slated to occupy the prominent corner at W Hubbard and N Dearborn in a building that already packs in several food and drink tenants alongside two Marriott hotels, according to local reporting. What Now Chicago lists Gus' Sip & Dip, Holloways Bar, Il Porcellino, and Ramen San among current occupants, and notes that a Blue Sushi Sake Grill sits across the street. With that mix of neighbors and hotel guests funneling past the corner nightly, the new speakeasy should not have to work too hard to find a crowd.
What To Expect And Timing
There is still no firm opening date on the books, but earlier press material from Lettuce described a lower-level cocktail room as part of Crying Tiger's buildout, so the formal naming of Kitty's suggests that plan is moving along. Lettuce Entertain You says more details will be released as the space gets closer to service. We will update this story once the company or the bar itself confirms an official opening date or key staff hires.
